Olives, it's location as the ‘heel of Italy’, the much photographed trulli houses, more olives… Isn’t that what we all know about Puglia? All these things are certainly significant but the wines that are made here are more than noteworthy. As with much of Italy, there’s a focus upon indigenous grape varieties such as Negroamaro and Bombino. While many of the wines here are full-bodied and extracted, what makes Lupo Maria's wines truly unique is that they are low in alcohol, delicate and decidedly mineral in character. Not typical of the region, that’s for sure, but delicious and fascinating nonetheless.
