Joel Courthault is a Touraine-based biodynamic producer who has some seven hectares on sandy, high acidity soils that are primarily planted with sauvignon blanc. The rest are made up of pineau, chenin, gamay and cabernet franc.
His whites undergo a long fermentation process with the aim to produce wines that have great minerality and structure. The reds, too, are bright and precise. What unites his wines is their extraordinary ageing potential which is due, in no small part, to the sandy soils on which the vines are planted.
