It would be a shame to make Lassolle sound, in any way, pedestrian. At the helm is the talented winemaker, Stéphanie Roussel, whose cliffhanger approach to winemaking means that a wine in every vintage is not guaranteed as she constantly strives to keep human intervention to its absolute minimum and the wines as natural as possible.
This biodynamic estate is around 8 hectares and is located between the Sauternes and the Graves vineyards of Bordeaux. Some of the vines are over 100 years old.
The wines, made from low-yielding vines are typical of the southwest in so far as they are very dark and robustly tannic with a wild, savoury quality. The winemaker herself is something of a force of nature and you’ll taste her passion and drive in the wines.
