Villabellini, Cecilia Trucchi

A rare exception in Valpolicella, Cecilia spends as much time building stone walls and planting trees, as tending her vines, in order to isolate herself from the more conventional viticulture methods from the neighbouring winemakers. She doesn't want to make Amarone as it implies a grape selection process. She prefers to consider the whole picture and therefore only makes one wine (plus Recioto in outstanding vintages).

Valpolicella, Taso 2006, 150cl

Grapes are harvested in different stages but vinified together, which means that some of them will spend a couple of weeks in the attic. After vinification in stainless steel, the wine spends 2 years in barrels. No filtration or clarification, natural yeasts only. The wine has the perfect balance in our eyes.
