An hour east of glamorous Barolo lies the home of the Cortese grape, Costa Vescovato. Valli Unite (United Valley) are a small self-sufficient community of 15 families who live in harmony with their environment. The 100 Ha estate is divided in woods, fruit trees, garden, vegetable plots and the vineyard. The use of alternative energy sources such as solar panels is paramount. Recycling water and building made of woods and hay are part of the same logic. The 20 Ha of vines are organically cultivated since for the last 30 years. The grapes cultivated at Valli Unite are Timorasso, Cortese, Croatina, Dolcetto, Moretto, Barbera and Merlot. In the cellar, wines are made without added yeasts or added sulfites for several years now. Barbiga could be describe has a riserva as it spends 2 years in oak barrels.
